Making It Happen: Over the past 15 years, Long Island's own Ed Ryan has been looked upon as one of the area's most talented performers and most likeable souls. Ed's musical career has ranged from the big stage, with groups such as Ed Ryan and The Underdogs, Wide Awake and Rhino Caravan, to the world of stand-up comedy, and back to the small stage, as the host of open-stage nights at the Munchaba Lounge. This renaissance man has just released his first solo CD, Make It So. The record gives the listener 16 tracks and many different sounds, all of which are extremely pleasing. Fans of The Beatles, U2, John Fogerty, The Grateful Dead and Jack Johnson will want to add this disc to their CD library immediately. Among my favorite tracks on the album are the power ballads "Angel of Mercy," "Key to the Sky," the Elton John-esque "Imaginary Day" and the album's final track, "I Will Be With You," which speaks ambiguously of the concept of love. Overall, this album is a must-have for the sophisticated music lover. Ed has once again proven that he is a timeless artist who crosses over to many different musical genres. To pick up a copy of Make It So or to check out more on Ed Ryan (including some steamy, provocative photographs), go to www.Ed-Ryan.com.....I'll see ya next week, and remember, even the Beatles were "just a local band" once.
